Newark Airport has three passenger terminals. Terminal A and B were completed in 1973, and Terminal C was completed in 1988. This has given Newark Airport the ability to service over 35 million passengers a year.

Terminal A and B each have four levels. Except for ticketing for Air India on the second floor and British Airways on the first floor, ticketing for these terminals are on the fourth floor. On the third floors are gates and shops. Terminal B houses Newark Airport’s international arrivals lounge, and both A’s and B’s baggage claims are on the second floor. Of course, on the ground floor you will find short-term parking.

Upon opening, Terminal C at Newark Airport was considered the most modern terminal in the United States. It has both an international and domestic check-in on two separate levels. Between these two ticketing levels is located the mezzanine level. Here you will find the gates, food and shopping. Since 2003, the former baggage claim area has been turned into an additional departure level, and a third concourse was added.

Terminals A, B and C are each subdivided into three concourses. This has allowed Newark Airport to handle its growing passenger demand. Terminal operations are a shared responsibility with the Port Authority. Terminal A is operated by United Airlines, and Terminal C is looked over by Continental Airlines. However, Terminal B is the only terminal that is the sole responsibility of the Port Authority.
