Newark Airport

Newark International Airport offers travelers world-class service to destination in and outside of the U.S. First named Newark Airport, Newark International Airport is within the city limits of Newark and Elizabeth, New Jersey. It is located about 15 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan.

Newark Airport hails to be the nation’s tenth busiest airport in the nation, and the fifth busiest international gateway. Along with John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, and several smaller airports, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operate Newark Airport.

Operating all of Terminal C and part of A, Continental Airlines is Newark Airport’s largest tenant. Because of their large hub operation there, Continental Airlines is the largest carrier in the New York market. However, the next largest carrier is not a commercial passenger airline but FedEx Express. Newark Airport is its third largest cargo hub, where it operates out of three buildings within the airport complex.

Compared to JFK’s 47.8 million passengers and LaGuardia’s 23.1 million passengers, in 2008 Newark Airport serviced a little more than 35.4 million passengers. This made New York’s airport system the busiest in the U.S. at 107 million passengers. In the world though New York came in second to London.
